Taking Aim Against AIDS

David Montefiori, Ph.D., doesn’t necessarily like the limelight. He’s not often quoted in TV newscasts or newspaper reports about research on AIDS at Duke, even though his work is nationally and internationally known. “He’s much better known outside Duke than around campus,” quips his colleague, Kent Weinhold, Ph.D., director of the Center for AIDS Research (CFAR).

The grant will allow Montefiori to expand across the globe his quest for improving and standardizing the methods used to test whether experimental AIDS vaccines are producing the antibodies needed to defeat the 25-year-old epidemic.
