The Roadmap for Research
Duke University is one of the most successful academic institutions in receiving new National Institutes of Health Roadmap Initiative grants.

Two years ago, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), one of the major sources of funds for biomedical research in the United States, decided it needed a new map to follow in the 21st century. The new way of thinking about research -- dubbed the NIH Roadmap for Medical Research -- focused on three themes:
• New Pathways to Discovery
• Research Teams of the Future
